The Language of Shapes

Miloš Balgavý had a simple measure of good ceramics: a ceramic object is successful if it rolls without breaking.

This educational programme introduces Fruits of Clay, an exhibition by Slovak ceramic artist Miloš Balgavý, whose work is inspired by careful observation of nature and its organic forms. Together, we will discover that the complex shapes found in nature can often be reduced to simple geometric forms, which can then be transformed into entirely new compositions.

Participants explore the connections between nature and art, experiment with simplifying and transforming shapes, and create their own interpretations of forms inspired by Balgavý's work through a series of hands-on creative activities.

The exhibition also features process-based works by Katalin Madarász Decsi, offering an additional perspective on artistic experimentation with natural materials and forms.

The activities take place in the garden of Koppel Villa and are closely connected to the works on display.

The programme is adapted to the age and specific needs of each participant group.

Duration: 60–90 minutes
